Presidents Introduction
Good afternoon to our visitors today - both players and spectators - you are most welcome and I hope that you all enjoy yourselves. Because I think that's really what its all about, isn't it, - enjoyment!
It has been said that the competitiveness which has been brought into rugby football as a result of the introduction of leagues and cups has taken some of the fun out of the game, and has changed it for the worse.
I do not agree, and neither do the players. The extra edge that important league and cup fixtures now have has become an essential factor and I am sure that they wouldn't want to go back to the old days with a season of purely friendly fixtures.
Above all though, we must remember that rugby football is only a game - to be played for enjoyment and the making of friends, which once made on the field and in the bar afterwards can last a long time after playing days are over.

CLUB NOTES
Welcome to our visitors from Sefton for today's North West Division 1 League match. Altrincham (Kersal) have had a mixed season but recently came good against Leigh in their latest league match. Sefton had a strong start to the season but then waned a little. However, they are at full strength again after a string of injuries.
The teams have met regularly over the years with many close matches. Sefton are one of Altrincham's (Kersal) oldest fixtures and in recent years the teams have played for the "Horns" to add spice to friendly matches.
This year Altrincham (Kersal) are embarking upon an ambitious redevelopment of the clubhouse and attached facilities. Another Prize Draw has been arranged with the chance to win a trip for two people to the Caribbean. Thanks to everyone concerned with the draw and other fund raising activities.
And finally, let's hope the weather permits for an open and exciting game today, and we look forward to meeting our opposition afterwards in the bar (as well as selling them a few prize draw tickets !!).
