Fastest head in the West

THE fastest head in the West - that’s marathon running Michael Ledsham.

For the athletic 26 year-old headmaster of Rice Lane County Primary School Walton, has raised £200 during his first marathon run.

Michael - who was supported by his parents and pupils completed the recent Mersey Marathon in four hours and 20 minutes, despite suffering a painful thigh injury.

Sefton rugby club player Michael, from Prescot, who is married with two children, said: "I had never attempted a marathon before - and though I was promising myself about six or seven miles from the end that I’d never do it again - I can’t wait to have another go."

A cheque for £200 was donated to Mersey Marathon organiser Mr Derek Johnson at the school today in aid of the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Scanner appeal
