Sefton evaluate new kit for next season

Man of the match Matt Thomas, along with Tom Fletcher and Andy Walsh, guided Sefton to this fine Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three victory. Peter McBride (2), Bevan Jones, Wayne Osborne and Gareth Rogerson grabbed their tries and Phil Evans' four conversions and a penalty took him past the 100 point mark for the season. Prenton were level 10-10 at half-time and had Graham Leehay to thank for their two tries.

Sefton 24 Newton-Le-Willows 5

Sefton enhanced their Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three promotion prospects with this convincing win over their near rivals. Jamie Cuthbertson and substitute Jack Blackburn showed the way as Sefton rattled up a 17-0 interval advantage to end up with tries from Mark Tyms, Peter McBride and Phil Osborne, plus three conversions and a penalty by Phil Evans. David Turner grabbed Newton's consolation try.

Marple 25 Sefton 19

A slack defence which gave away three tries cost Sefton victory and the chance to stay in touch with the Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three pace-setters. Try scorers Tom Fletcher and Andy Sheehan worked hard in a strong Sefton pack and Phil Evans, with a try and two conversions, completed the scoring.

Sefton 3 Halton 18

An explosive 13 points in the first 10 minutes gave Halton a stranglehold on this Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three promotion clash. A Phil Evans penalty and strong performances by Matt Thomas and Andy Sheehan gave Sefton hope, but Halton finished with tries by Paul Curphey and Steve Cowell, plus two penalties and a conversion by the outstanding Steve Mellor.

St Edward's OB 15 Sefton 7

Both clubs intend to send a joint letter of complaint to the Lancashire RU disciplinary committee following the referee's decision to send off two players from both sides, as well as yellow carding another two. Sefton also feel aggrieved after having a dubious penalty try awarded against them. The rest of the St Edwards' points came from a Ben Blackwell try and a penalty and conversion by Tony Evans. It was always a close Cheshire/South Lancashire Division Three derby with a Mike Hanlon try, converted by Phil Evans, keeping Sefton's hopes alive.

Sefton 11 Sale Amateur 37

Despite four late cry-offs, an already weakened Sefton competed well but two late tries gave an unfair slant to the scoreline. Phil Evans banged over two penalties and Phil Osborne scored a try for the Cheshire/South Lancashire Third Division home side.
