    Promotional hopefuls Wigan were always favourites in this game as Sefton were without inspirational skipper Wayne Osborne.

    Strong forward play brought about Sefton's try with the ball popping out for John Fenton to score.

    Sefton found league leaders far too strong on their home turf and had to make do with a Wayne Osborne penalty.

    Full-back Rupert Dunn scored a great individual try to give Sefton their second double of the season, the other being St Edwards Old Boys.

    John Fenton scored on the wing in the first half.

    A much needed friendly for the first team after a few blank weekends allowed a few new faces to be blooded. Tries by Dave Carr and Grant Leary evened up proceedings.

    Sefton finished 15-5 to the good after a slow first half. Wayne Osborne broke through the Ormskirk line to even things up, then Mark Tyms crashed over after concerted forward play late on.

    Sefton enjoyed a 12-try romp to finish third. Dave Almond crossed three times, Mark Tyms, Dave Carr and Jamie Cuthbertson all bagged two tries apiece with singles via Rupert Dunn, Tom Fletcher and Peter McBride. Dave Almond landed seven conversions.
