Sefton opened the season with a first round victory in the EDF Senior Vase away at recently demoted Oldershaw.
Skipper Tom Fletcher scored their only try with Phil Evans adding three important penalties.

An injury time try by Mark Tyms saw Sefton clinch victory over the visitors from Manchester. Dave Carr also went in and Phil Evans managed one conversion and a penalty.

Sefton saw off Ormskirk in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division 2. David Carr, skipper Tom Fletcher, John Fenton and debutante Neil Best went in, and Fenton converted twice.

Collegiate 3 Sefton 17
Sefton took the Derby at Collegiate 17-3 thanks to touchdowns by 'newcomer' John Stitt, Dave Carr and Peter McBride. John Fenton added one conversion with Paul Walsh scoring a penalty for the losers.

Despite falling behind early on in the first-half Sefton edged ahead when John Fenton was first to get his hand on a ball juggled behind the try line.
Once again it took Mark Tyms to bulldoze over to secure the points to maintain top position in the League.
