Sefton 27 Hoylake 23

It was also a glory weekend for Sefton who reached the Pilkington Shield fourth round for the first time by beating Hoylake in a seven-try thriller.

Hoylake lead 23-10 and seemed set to repeat their narrow League win in September, but finally wilted in the face of a remarkable Sefton fight back which brought them 17 points in the last 20 minutes.

Seftons’s tries were scored by dangerous winger Paul Walker(2) and Barry ‘M6’ Wilkes, with man of the match Robin Earwaker turning in a near faultless goal kicking display which brought him three conversions and two penalties.

Hoylakes’s top man Andy Colgrave scored a try and landed a penalty with the other tries coming from Alan Robinson, Rob Hibbs and Mike Young.
