Pt Sunlight 7 Sefton 10

Replacement Charlie Breen scored the vital try which gave Sefton victory in this hard fought Lancashire South/Cheshire League derby.

A Robin Earwaker try gave Sefton an early lead as the visitors took charge with old hand Keith Westcott and debut boy Dan Tully in top form.

However, Port Sunlight hit back with a Graham Bowers try converted by Neil Harris to take the lead until Breens’s effort settled it in Sefton’s favour.

Sefton 8 Crewe-Nantwich 13

A hotly disputed try ended Sefton’s interest in the Pilkington Shield at the fourth round stage.

The crucial incident happened when Sefton were 8-3 behind. The visitors kicked ahead and it was obvious that Sefton full-back was impeded as he went to collect the ball.

Worse was to follow when Paul Walker who thought he had averted the danger when he touched the ball down over his own try line but surprisingly the referee awarded a try to Crewe and Nantwich.

Sefton battled on but a Mark Tyms try five minutes from the end was too late.

The rest of the points came from a Robin Earwaker penalty.

Sefton 10 Wallasey 17

Wallasey always had the edge in this tightly contested Lancashire South/Cheshire League derby with the kicking of Conrad North proving decisive.

Weakened Sefton replied with a ten point haul from Robin Earwaker who converted his own try and added a penalty.
