Sefton 7 St Mary’s 27

St Mary’s built up a commanding 15-0 interval lead and never looked back thanks to tries by by Chris Howard, Mark O’Brien, Vin Charnley and Stuart Hadfield. Niall Burke added two conversions and a penalty. Sefton responded with a Dave Keegan try converted by Paul Evangelides. Turning point of the game when Sefton’s Charlie Breen charged down a kick and gathered to touch down.

It would have given Sefton a chance at 14-15 but the effort was disallowed.

Pilkington Cup Finalists Crewe & Nantwich handed Sefton their biggest defeat in 16 months.

The Lancashire South/Cheshire League promotion chasers were always in charge with Sefton’s sole reward being a Paul Evangelides penalty.
