Port Sunlight 41 Sefton 15

Seven-try Port Sunlight were always in control but spirited Sefton kept battling away, with their seven reserves all playing their part.

Steve Stockford(2), Simon Byrne, Adam Metclafe, Robin Ward, Steve Cooke and Peter Ashcroft scored the home tries, with Ashcroft adding three conversions. Eddie Jones and Lee Warwick crossed for Sefton, with Paul Evangelides landing one conversion and one penalty.

Neil Snelgrove and Metcalfe shone for Sunlight (what a terrible pun Ron), while Matty Thomas and Jones were always in the action.

Eagle 19 Sefton 14

A try by Rob McCale five minutes from the end gave Eagle a narrow victory, although all the players deserved a medal for producing a fine game in appalling conditions.

Ian Burns, Andy Walsh and Mark Carruthers starred for Sefton while Graham Taylor, Martin Cahill and Stuart Edwards were best for Eagle.

The other home try was scored by Willie McCallister, with Chris Myers landing three penalties.

Roy Spencer and Lee Warwick grabbed the Sefton tries, with Phil Evans adding both conversions.
