Scrum-half Steve Kelly made a memorable debut for Sefton, who just about deserved to win this thrilling derby.

Barry Wilkes, with two tries, was Sefton’s scoring heroine, with Lee Warwick grabbing another and Paul Evangelides kicking a penalty and a conversion.

Hoylake played their part and were kept in the game by prop Barry Jones who scored a hat-trick of tries.

Sefton 13 Parkonians 8

Man of the Match John Stitt celebrated his award with a bottle of champagne as Sefton picked up their first Cheshire/Lancashire South League double of the season.

With big Mark Carruthers also in fine form, Sefton scored through a Dave Neary try, plus two penalties and a conversion by Paul Evangelides.
