SEFTON 7 HUDDERSFIELD YMCA 47

Sefton Rugby Club staged a charity game on Saturday; August 29 against a visiting Huddersfield XV. The game was to raise money for injured Sefton player Dave Hawkyard who suffered a very serious injury in last seasons match against Southport. Since the incident in February Dave has been a patient in the Southport and Formby

General Hospital's Spinal Injury Unit. Sefton's opponents Huddersfield YMCA, are the reigning Tetley Vase Trophy champions and travelled to the city for Dave as his first game was played for the visiting club. "All at the YMCA Club recall Dave as a popular and loyal clubman," stated Huddersfleld YMCA President Malcolm Eastwood. "We will play our part today in supporting this worthy event and look forward to continuing our association with Sefton RUFC for many years to come." Sefton Press secretary, Ron Langshaw said: "Huddersfield YMCA are a great side and their abilities shone through as they battled Sefton to a 47-5 victory

"Despite the one-sided scoreline everybody who attended the event enjoyed the day which was a total success."
