Shell 19 Sefton 7

Shell overcame terrific resistance from Sefton to move into the Tetley Vase fourth round.

The game was closer than the score suggests and Shell owed much to Kevin Mason who was outstanding while Mark Tyms was a tower of strength for Sefton.

Paul Moretta, Paul Wilkinson and Mason scored the Shell tries with Mason and Paul Millington each landing a conversion. Tyms crossed for Sefton’s try which was converted by Paul Evangelides.

Sefton 7 Congleton 19

The defences prevented first half tries, but Sefton could not overcome the absence of five first teamers and lost this Cheshire/Lancashire South League battle. Their only reward was a golden try by Paul Walker, and the ‘single’ conversion by Paul Evangelides.
