Sefton found Wigan and the appalling conditions too much to handle in Sundays Lancashire Trophy quarter final. Wigan winger Andy Gibson grabbed two tries with the others coming from Ben Worthington and skipper Stuart Cooper with Worthington adding one conversion.

Sefton ended West Park’s 16 game unbeaten run thanks to an outstanding performance by 46 years old prop forward Frank Harper.

Lee Warwick, Barry ‘Brian’ Wilkes and skipper Matt Thomas scored their tries, with Paul Walker tacking on one conversion and a penalty.

West Park replied with a try apiece by Ben rose and John Griffiths.
