The venue was switched to Sefton at the last minute and the home side celebrated their first win of the season in style.

The consistent Mark Tyms, substitute Brian Gardner and Gavin Winter all impressed as Sefton scored tries through Eddie Jones (2) and Gardner with Phil Evans marking his first game with a conversion.

Sefton 36 Moore 22

A blistering first half show earned Sefton their first league win of the season.

They led 36-8 thanks to tries by Matt Thomas (2), Ian Burns, Dave Neary, Wayne Osborne and Mark Tyms, while Phil Evans added three conversions.

Moore fought back bravely and were well worth their tries by Ian Allen (2) and Bob Sanchez with Ian Williamson landing two conversions and a penalty.
