Sefton 22 Burnage 3

Sefton stormed into the Lancs Plate Final with a convincing 22-3 win over visitors Burnage on Sunday. Coach Arthur Stewart was quick to praise the victory saying: "It was one of the best performances of the season. We never allowed Burnage to get into the game." Superbly led by pack ace Andy Sheehan and hooker Willie Coulter, who took 11 scrums against the head. Sefton scored tries through Paul Evangelides, Sheehan and Steve Teale with Evangelides adding two conversions and a pen.

Ellesmere Pt 26 Sefton 18

Ellesmere Port remain top of the Cheshire/South Lancashire Second Division after beating Sefton.

Ian Johnson(2), and Paul Watkinson scored tries for the home side, who were also awarded a penalty try. Kevin Mason landed three conversions.

Sefton replied with two tries by Peter McBride plus two penalties and a conversion by Paul Evangelides.
