Sefton collected their first double of the season, by beating Marple for the second time in a week, to consolidate their position in the top half of the Cheshire/ South Lancashire second division.

Said assistant coach Arthur Stewart: "We didn’t play very well in the first half, but we were firing on all cylinders after the interval.".

Pack ace Mark Tyms led the way with his first senior hat-trick of tries, which later cost him a jug of ale. The rest came from Wayne Osborne, Dave Neary, and one from winger Paul Ryder on his league debut.

Marple 3 Sefton 16

Mark Tyms, Andy Sheehan and Wayne Osborne were in dazzling form as Sefton won this Cheshire/ South Lancashire second division clash.

Sheehan scored their try, Osborne tacked on the penalty and two conversions, and Paul Evangelides landed a penalty.
