Good performances from Wayne Osborne, Paul Wynne and Phil Evans guided Sefton to the Teltley Bitter Vase 4th Round.
Peter McBride grabbed their only try with scoring hero Evans rattling up 17 points with five penalties and a conversion.
Sefton 18 Prenton 11
Brothers Wayne and Phil Osborne scored the crucial tries as Sefton worked hard to reach the Tetley Vase Third Round.
Phil Evans added two penalties and a conversion.
Prenton replied with a Mark Laing try and two Mark Peers penalties.
Hoylake 25 Sefton 20
Sefton looked to be heading for a hammering when they trailed 20-0 at half time against bogey team Hoylake.
But a strong second half performance almost turned the tables, although the Wirral side held on to earn the Cheshire/ South Lancashire third division points.
Kevin Jones(2), Mike Young, Neil Parsley and Danny Miller scored Hoylakes tries. Wayne Osborne and Gareth Rogerson crossed for Sefton and Phil Evans added both conversions and two penalties

Wayne Osborne and Matty Thomas grabbed first half tries as Sefton took the points in the Cheshire/ South Lancashire third division clash.
Phil Evans added two penalties and a conversion.
