Ron Langshaw
By Keith Charlton (L'pool Echo)
I LEARNED with deep sorrow of
the passing on Monday of Ron
Langshaw, a mainstay of the Sefton
club for 35 years, and one of the
North's great rugby personalities.
Ron, who was 77, had been club president for two years, chairman for 10 and press secretary for nearly 30.
A tremendous story teller gifted with a fine sense of humour, Ron also had a flair for drawing cartoons.
Originally inspired by the former popular ECHO cartoonist George Green, Ron was always in demand to produce club posters for dinners, socials and parties.
Our thoughts are now with his wife Vera and sons Kevin, Bernard, Martin and their families. Ron was delighted that his three lads all played for Sefton.
Current club chairman Brian Eden added: "Sefton has lost a great friend and servant. Sefton was a big part of Ron's life and we will all miss him."
