MATCH NOTES

Our visitors to-day, Sefton, fresh from a 6-3 victory over St. Helens Recs., field a strong side led by an old boy of West Park in wing forward Jack Davies with a useful blend of youth and experience at his disposal, including Warwick Evans at full back, a former team-mate of Tom Brophy when at Liverpool University, and bustling centre Tom Donnelly a former County Trialist, Gilmore, a newcomer to the side is fitting in well at left wing threequarter and Bailey, an ex-Liverpool player is combining well with Corlett at half-back, Corlett usually at centre but improving as scrum half. In the pack Sefton have their stalwart prop "Dixie" Rayner and at wing forward Dave Tinsley who learnt his earlier rugby in the West Park junior sides.

The Park side back to form after two defeats by Stoke and Crossleyans in their last three games retain Terry Wilson, their top points scorer with 192 to his credit, at full back and have Brian Cotter, who missed last week's game with a knee injury, returning at scrum half. Alan Prescott on the right wing and with 20 trys to his credit is chasing Mike Dillon, the clubs top try-scorer in the second team with 23, and is now combining well with his new partner Alan Gill who is proving a capable replacement for Mike Glover now in the Liverpool side. The pack with evergreen "Bonk" Barrow still outlooking the best is reigning supreme with the second row of Peter Frodsham and the improving Dave Ellson, outstanding. Gerry Allen is unavailable for three weeks and Frank Filds is proving a capable deputy in the front row. Nice to see Austin Tipping taking more than an active part, he is full back in a team playing "Moss Lane" Veterans to-day, he had his first game for the club with Jack McDonagh in the same team!
