The Silver War Badge(SWB)

First Issued in 1916

The Liverpool Echo dated Monday, July 24th 1916 reported the reason for the issue of the new badge.

The Silver War Badge is to be issued to our officers, men (Army and Navy),
and nurses who have returned to civil life wounded or otherwise unfit.
